Description

The Grants Accountant is responsible for all programmatic and fiscal reporting requirements for the Federal Grants Division. This includes preparing, monitoring and auditing all accounting and financial transactions, budget, revenue expenditures and fund balances; and developing, modifying and implementing financial record keeping and reporting systems. In addition, (s)he prepares for deadlines for a variety of financial and State requirements concerning the budget, and prepares clear, concise and accurate financial and accounting reports and records. This individual coordinates, compiles, and prepares the submission of the companies financial statements including related schedules and reconciliations, and serves as a liaison with the Finance Department to coordinate grant accounting activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate has experience with complex accounting and budgeting support work within  Planning, Grants or Program Management setting, and has knowledge of the federal, state and local laws, regulations and requirements that govern grants administration. (S)he has knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), cost accounting and budget development. The ideal candidate thinks strategically, plans monitors and adjusts budgets. S(he) is able to research and understand complex legislation and policy and implement into administration of grants program. S(he) is skilled at analyzing financial data, has experience posting a variety of non-standard transactions. An ideal candidate can explain technical data to non-technical user staff, and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

 

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with accounting background.
  • Additional professional or technical accounting experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis, provided there is no substitution for the accounting units.
  • Has great attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines
