Description

Mechanical Engineer II

Responsibilities:

  • Define, architect, and lead the implementation of projects related to the precision motion systems
  • Gather system requirements by interfacing with customers to generate concept and cost models and assist with proposals
  • Lead design reviews
  • Lead engineering development activities through the established product development process and an internal quality system
  • Select and size motion control components (motors, bearings, materials) for the design
  • Create and maintain acceptance test plans and system test protocols for design verification and validation
  • Ensure compliance of the new systems with design controls and all regulatory requirements such as CE, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.
  • Assemble, test and rapid prototype new concepts and machines to mitigate technical risks on new development concepts 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in precision motion design, preferably for precision manufacturing applications
  • Create and manage multi-level SolidWorks 3D CAD assembly and part designs within SolidWorks EPDM tool for custom product designs
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering and physics including structural mechanics, materials science and precision metrology systems including linear and rotary motion systems

Education & Experience:

  • BSME required
  • 3+ years of experience in the design of systems using linear and rotary motion.
  • Proven ability utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD software for mechanical design
  • Systems level design experience
  • Experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5) to communicate design requirements to the operations organization
  • Ability to perform engineering analysis using Finite Element Analysis with SolidWorks Simulation and mathematical analysis (MathCAD, LabVIEW or MatLab)
