Our client located in Tewksbury, Ma is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join their team on a contract to hire basis. 

Major Purpose: 

Under minimum supervision, develops, writes and edits a wide variety of technical literature for various technical reports, brochures, manuals, instruction books and related technical and administrative publications used for internal documentation and customer usage for highly complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Develops source material, consults with engineering and technical staff, and coordinates the preparation of required illustrative materials. Must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but is not limited to the duties described below.

• Gathers technical information, prepares written text, and coordinates layout and manual/report organization for complex documentation of products.

• Writes individualized copy of analytical, interpretive, documentary or promotional literature on company products, systems and procedures.

• Researches available engineering information such as drawings, design reports, and equipment and test specifications.

• Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Assists in laying out material for publication.

• Writes and edits the original manuscript and discuss with Engineers for clarification and/or explanation on matters concerning technical accuracy and completeness.

• Organizes material and completes complex writing assignment determining order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.

• Prepares special presentation charts, graphs, etc. for management when requested.

• Participates in meetings with customers on assigned project(s).

• May direct the work of lower level writers and act as leader on assigned project(s).

• Assists in preparation and editing of engineering reports, sales estimates and proposals.


Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, understand and use engineering technology. Requires in-depth knowledge of customer requirements, various company products, equivalent technologies and solid understanding of concepts, operating systems, and/or networking. Exceptional knowledge and proficient implementation skills in software tools such as Word, Excel, and AUTO-CAD LT.


Bachelor’s degree in English, Computer Science, Business or related discipline with minimum of five (5) years technical writing and editing experience required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. Requires applied/operational technical knowledge and the ability to write concisely and precisely.
