Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Tack Welder for our client in Duluth, GA. The Welder will be responsible for fitting and tack-welding shoulders to rolled coupling bodies using GMAW-P welding equipment and tack-welding fittings using jigs with GMAW-P welding equipment. You will mostly be in the role of a helper for the first few weeks and practicing to take the 2G weld test.

This is a 2nd shift position (M-F 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM) and the pay rate is $15.00 per hour


Responsibilities of the Welder:

  •      Perform all of the duties required of a level three Helper.
  •      Certify as tack-welder using GMAW-P welding equipment.
  •       Read and interpret shop work orders.
  •       Fit and tack-weld shoulders to rolled coupling bodies using GMAW-P welding equipment.
  •      Tack-weld fittings using jigs and GMAW-P welding equipment.

Requirements of the Welder:

  • Experience in pulse welding. 
  • Experience with MIG and TIG Welding
  • Must pass the 2G weld test within a couple of weeks (or assignment will end)

Job Progression:

Fitter/Tacker – Level One

1.       Perform all of the duties required of a level three Helper.

2.       Certify as tack-welder using GMAW-P welding equipment.

3.       Read and interpret shop work orders.

4.       Fit and tack-weld shoulders to rolled coupling bodies using GMAW-P welding equipment.

5.       Tack-weld fittings using jigs and GMAW-P welding equipment.

Fitter/Tacker – Level Two

1.       Perform all of the duties required of a level one Fitter/Tacker.

2.       Operate single shaft roll forming machine to adjust coupling body lengths.

3.       Select and cut material to the size required per the shop work order by properly using the metal working centers and/or cutting tools.

Fitter/Tacker – Level Three

1.       Perform all of the duties required of a level two Fitter/Tacker.

2.       Properly operate the small and large plate rolls.

3.       Properly operate the Buffalos, V-Rolls and single shaft forming machines to manufacture coupling bodies.

4.       Operate the automatic shoulder welding equipment.

5.       Begin training for GMAW-P 2G test for promotion to Fabricator.
