Description

The Material Planner’s primary function is to coordinate with Engineering, Production, Purchasing and Customer Service insuring integrity of the planning, scheduling and control functions within the MRP system, resulting in a smooth flow of product arriving on-time at the customer’s dock. The Material Planner must become a “power user” of the MRP system.

Responsibilities for Production Planner:

  • Provides and monitors the schedule for the manufacturing areas.
  • Advises the Purchasing Manager and Production Manager of shortages/delays that may impact the schedule.
  • Coordinate with Production to release orders to manufacturing in a timely manner with all required documentation included in the shop packet worksheet package.
  • Verify all manufacturing revisions are current to the customer requirements.
  • Notify Materials Manager and Customer Service if forecast cannot be attained.
  • Handles the release and management of all sub contract orders through production.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental priorities:
  • Customer Service
  • Quality Control Inspection
  • Receiving Inspection
  • Manufacturing
  • Purchasing for procurement of parts and services
  • Engineering for processes, tooling, prints and changes 
  • Inventory Control
  • Evaluates activity of Inventory Control to assure the accuracy of MRP.
  • Supports Inventory Control to assure the release of manufacturing orders in a timely manner.
  • Inputs data as required using the current manufacturing software system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief to help equalize and balance workloads.
