Description

Buyer Planner

 

Responsibilities

  • Reviews the monthly financial budgets for assigned programs with management and provides recommendations
  • Works under the direction of a Senior Buyer Planner or Manager to adjust deliveries to maximize cash flow.
  •  Analyzes supplier capabilities and works with multiple vendors to establish a competitive environment.
  • Typically works on a program (or a portion of a program) that has been in production and has an established supply chain.
  • Utilizes pre-defined supplier selection.
  • Understands/learns how to review MRP and run reports to determine open requirements.
  • Manages the requests for quotation for suppliers; releases requisitions from BaaN.
  • Expedites materials thru incoming inspection and internal suppliers using email requests.
  • Releases purchase orders to suppliers scheduled directly as MRP indicates.
  • Executes against a previously defined inventory replenishment strategy.
  • Releases purchase orders to suppliers scheduled directly as MRP indicates.
  • Monitor, manage and expedite supplier orders as necessary.
  • Provides summaries in written and verbal form detailing the project status
  • Collaborates with the Sr. Buyer/Planner, internal lob’s and team leaders to meet goals, ensure the adherence to deadlines and the success of the program
  • Performs Price Analysis and conducts simple price negotiations.
  • Attends CCB if supporting a program. May need assistance with ECO dispositions.
  • Completes basic status reports on a predefined schedule.
  • Possesses some familiarity with regulatory requirements (RoHs, Reach, FAA, FDA, FAR/DFAR, ITAR).
  • Develop PO packages to conform to company standard.
  • Contacts Supplier-Requests RMA. Checks for export license, if required.
  • Participates in MRB meetings.
  • Negotiate with suppliers (price, schedule, T’s & C’s, etc.)
  • Support proposal activities as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+years’ experience preferred
  • Understands how to interpret MRP signals and plan requirements accordingly
  • Proven ability to review data and understand how the information affects the program’s success.
  • Perform data analysis using MS Excel and present findings and/or recommendations to management.
  • Understands how to develop recovery plans
  • Experience evaluating a vendor’s capacity and capability to supply products or services
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and support an ever-changing environment
  • Learns, understands and can incorporate the essence of the foreign military financing guidelines into the purchasing activities
  • Completed the Code of Business Ethics training and has a basic understanding of its impact on the Buyer Planner position.
  • Ability to provide detailed project status updates in written and verbal as required or requested.
