Growing manufacturing company based in Ashland, MA is seeking a junior level HR Generalist to join their global HR team team on a contract basis.  This role will focus on supporting the HR operations in the areas of recruitment, compensation & benefits, compliance, onboarding and employee engagement.  

This role is heavily focused on the transactional and administrative HR operations and will require the candidate to shift priorities daily and operate with the highest level of confidentiality. 



  • Leading the initiative with managers to opening positions in the HRIS system with accuracy
  • Partnering with the Senior HR Generalist on sourcing/screening candidates and liaising with managers to ensure for timely fulfillment of open roles with high quality talent
  • Partnering with managers to create job descriptions for open roles that are robust, accurate and completed within a timely manner
  • Lead all contingent labor hiring for factory and office approved roles

Compensation & Benefits

  • Meeting with employees to educate on FMLA and leave of absence policies and process FMLA paperwork through shared services
  • Tracking leave of absences across the organization and escalating work coverage needs to the Senior HR Generalist
  • Serve as the point of contact to answer employee support questions on HR policies, HRIS systems, benefits, payroll and processes
  • Completing mail merges and printing employee incentive eligibility letters
  • Processing high-volume transactional changes in HRIS system

Onboarding/Employee Exits

  • Partners with hiring managers for onboarding new employees to include: ensuring tools are in place so employee is ready on day 1, creation of employee files, benefit orientation, I-9 and e-verify processing
  • Processing of employee exits and returning company property to correct owner


  • Creating, monitoring and closing open tickets for HR shared services support
  • Scanning, printing and filing confidential employee paperwork
  • Accurate maintenance of employee personnel files, electronic data and other employee information in a confidential manner and in compliance with applicable policies, laws and records retention schedule


  • Monthly reporting on payroll, headcount and activity
  • Tracking open roles, forecasting hiring timing and employment cost
  • Ad-hoc reporting and consolidating files for 4 business units
  • Assist with annual Affirmative Action Planning (AAP) process

Event Coordination & Communications

  • Coordinating and setting up HR events (engagement, training, company communication sessions)
  • Attending factory talks to deliver important and timely business messages to factory employees
  • Coordinates and leads quarterly service anniversary celebration event
  • Assist in creation of company communications in both written and verbal format




  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus in human resources, psychology or business preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in human resources with an emphasis in recruitment and benefits
  • Proficient MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Workday experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written format
  • The ability to present to a cross-functional group of employees
  • Positive team-player mindset
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
