Mechanical Engineer for Semiconductor Mechanical Interface Products

Phoenix Area


The Client is looking for a contract Design Engineer for its integrated circuit (IC) interface product line. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment supporting Tier 1 semiconductor manufacturers on the design of mechanical interfaces to enable reliability testing.
Daily activities will include 3D CAD modeling in SolidWorks to adapt existing product designs to new customer applications. Working with field support staff and customers to gather necessary design information. Releasing new designs into ERP system to enable manufacturing. Support manufacturing and assembly of the product to assure success and that customer requirements are met.
• Use SolidWorks CAD software to design, model, and validate (FEA) mechanical interface adapters for new semiconductor IC packages and temperature control systems.
• Produce final drawings, specifications and perform production release process in PLM system
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to complete product designs
• Work with production staff to develop and implement the production process for new and existing products
• Support the production manufacturing process as needed to assure all products meet necessary requirements and customer expectations
• Understand how one’s decisions affect product cost, performance, and quality
Required Qualifications
• Strong user of SolidWorks CAD modeling software Certified SolidWorks Professional a plus
• BSE or BSME in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years of experience in a technical role
• Experience with CNC machining, GD&T, tight tolerance components, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with any of the following:
o Packaged integrated circuits (IC’s)
o IC package topology or IC packaging types
o pneumatic automation, semiconductor automated test handler automation
o back-end semiconductor manufacturing or reliability testing process
