We are currently hiring for a Full Time, Direct Hire, Sr. FPGA Design Engineer at our advanced electronics manufacturing facility in Billerica, MA. 


Sr. FPGA Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Manage the technical development for a next-gen high-speed data acquisition platform, including contributions from contractor and internal resources;
  • Develop FPGA specifications and architectures from high-level block diagrams and marketing requirements;
  • Implement FPGA designs in both rapid proof-of-concept/prototypes as well as fully qualified products;
  • Integrate FPGA designs with hardware and support system integration and qualification;
  • Write and maintain design documentation.

Sr. FPGA Design Engineer Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or related field (MS preferred);
  • Possess a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry or academic experience;
  • Proficiency with Verilog (additional proficiency with VHDL is helpful);
  • Proficiency with Xilinx FPGA development tools (ISE & Vivado, ChipScope, Floor planning for timing optimization, Constraints management, etc.);
  • Strong foundation in high-speed A/D signal capture and FPGA-based digital signal processing/analysis by staging multiple pipelined modules to achieve higher effective clock rates;
  • Experience implementing data transmission into FPGA designs via Xilinx cores (modern protocols e.g. PCIe, Ethernet/IP, Thunderbolt, USB; as well as intra-chip high-speed interfaces);
  • Experience incorporating third-party IP into FPGA designs;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to efficiently switch focus among a variety of tasks;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment;

Additional desired qualifications and skills:

  • Educational or workplace experience in electro-optics fields (e.g. lasers, fiber optics, sensors, low-noise analog electronics);
  • Hands-on laboratory skills with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers;
  • Experience with real-time imaging and video processing for medical devices;
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and troubleshoot analog and digital electronic circuits at the PCB level;
  • Writing microprocessor software in C/C++; particularly for embedded microprocessors and kernel drivers;
  • Familiarity with tools for version control, bug-tracking, test code coverage, etc.;
  • Expertise with MATLAB simulation (filter design, FFT, etc.);
