About the role:

We are seeking a bright, results-driven, hands-on individual to lead and manage our web/eCommerce build and release. This role will be a point of contact for the build, release, and environment management of the web/eCommerce platform. This role will improve the automation of the CI-CD pipeline, provide a release and environment management of the web/eCommerce platform. This role will establish and improve best practices around build, release, and environment management. This role will build relationships with all stakeholders including the product team which includes developers & a product owner and will collaborate with other cross-functional teams, as needed. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team of Build/DevOps engineers and System Administers
  • Build, hire, and mentor the team members
  • Build and establish best industry practices in source code, build, and release management
  • Build, improve, and mature automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) release pipelines that package, test and deploy code
  • Measure the improvements in CI-CD pipelines
  • Track release date and provide release readiness updates to leadership, as needed
  • Host release planning meeting and review deployment playbook and execute it in the non-prod for QA/UAT and provide the feedback
  • Collaborate with the product owners, business, developers, QE, and SRE teams to establish a release management framework
  • Own release readiness checklist, get sign off from involved stakeholders and help to make go/no-go decision
  • Responsible for Web/Ecommerce releases in non-prod and production environment
  • Responsible for change management, getting timely approvals for all production changes
  • Responsible for release communication
  • Evaluate and onboard new tools as needed for CI-CD
  • Provide release support for enterprise initiative, upgrades, production hotfixes, and NFRs  (such as patching, performance fix, etc.)
  • Manage responsibilities of supporting the build and release needs of agile teams
  • Develop environment strategy
  • Create/maintain infrastructure inventory and maintain software/version levels
  • Create/maintain release history for all environments
  • Plan and co-ordinate availability of non-production environments and it’s allocation
  • Schedule environment refresh and coordinate with relevant teams
  • Schedule maintenance work and coordinate with relevant teams
  • Act as point of escalation for non-production platform issues and drive the issue to closure
  • Co-ordinate infrastructure upgrades and changes with the Infrastructure Team
  • Document knowledge articles and create/maintain a knowledge repository
  • Available during non-core hours such as early morning or late night, especially during release, etc.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent experience

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in build and release engineering and/or DevOps
  • Recent 5+ years of experience in source control management, branching and merging strategies (Bitbucket preferred)
  • Recent 5+ years of experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo preferred)
  • Recent 5+ years of experience in writing SQL
  • Recent 5+ years of experience in collaborating with enterprise initiatives
  • Recent 5+ years of experience in managing functional and technical releases & change management
  • Recent 5+ years of experience in environmental management, environment provisioning, and support
  • Recent 2+ years of experience with agile processes, including experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira)
  • Recent 2+ years of hands-on experience in APIs validation
  • Recent 2+ years of experience as build and release manager, managing team members, hiring and coaching team members
  • Comfortable as a "hands-on" manager and willing to roll up sleeves to get things done
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills while exercising sound judgment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from senior management to associate level
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills including resource planning
  • Excellent planning skill providing estimates and work-breakdown schedules
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent collaboration skills
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours such as early morning or late night (during release schedule, etc.)

  • Ability to work with business, developers, testers, product management, and support team members to create release cadence, planning, and detailed plan

  • Config Management Tools: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet
  • Understanding of web services, REST and XML concepts, and developer tools
  • Experience leading the offshore team
  • Good documenting skill with experience in building knowledge base repository
  • Good mentoring skill with experience in training and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Ability to effectively learn and use new concepts, tools, and methodology to support the needs of the business
