Description

 DEBURR OPERATOR                               

Department:  Deburr    

                  

The  Deburr Operator is a senior level deburr position that is responsible for removing imperfections from parts.  This position utilizes the operator’s skills and knowledge to efficiently perform the manual blending, polishing and creation of edge breaks on precision aerospace components.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform deburring processes including blending, polishing and the creation of edge breaks without supervision.
  • Inspect manufactured components for conformance to specifications using bench gauging. 
  • Ensure that standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work including tool setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Read and interpret operation sheets
  • Recognize appropriate tool and abrasive selection for the operation.
  • Deburr gears and main rotor head parts.
  • Work with aerospace materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, magnesium, titanium, and nickel alloys.
  • Follow customer quality requirements, and read and interpret operation sheets and work instructions.
  • Adhere to established policies and company procedures and standard work
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Document and communicate performance issues to maintain continuity between shifts and decrease machine downtime.
  • Act as a mentor, train, and coach fellow associates.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all safety policies, rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Leads, Supervisors and/or Managers.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended period of time.
  • Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
  • Moderate twisting and bending.
  • Moderate climbing on step stools or platforms. 

 

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, gloves, and hearing protection or other protective equipment as needed. 

 

Qualifications:

  • US Citizen or permanent resident.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in deburr.
  • Basic math or industrial mathematics knowledge. 
  • Solid written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret  technical drawings.
  • Ability to set use or setup various measuring devices.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of copper plate requirements for gear coverage.
