This Large Well Sought After Organization currently has a great opportunity for an Accounting Manager in our Greater Boston office reporting to the Controller. In this role, you will responsible for managing the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, including accounts payable, general ledger, cash disbursements, and payroll; responsible for timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and other financial management reporting; monitoring and analyzing budget variances; and maintaining all financial data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage the month-end financial closing process, including the preparation of journal entries, account and sub-ledger monthly balance sheet and all P&L account reconciliations.

  • Assist with analysis of all financial results

  • Manage preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements to all constituents, including Board Finance Committee, senior management and department directors and managers.

  • Perform and/or manage financial and statistical data extractions as necessary to produce financial performance reports.

  • Coordinate preparation and submission of data to external auditors. Assist in management of the year-end financial audit process.

  • Manage the financial records of the organization; assure compliance with records retention requirements.

  • Compose, prepare and distribute a variety of correspondence; prepare a variety of reports for the Director of Finance

  • Communicate effectively with all internal departments and outside organizations to exchange information, resolve issues and coordinate activities.

  • Assist with development and control of operating and capital budgets of the organization, and of the Accounting Department specifically.

  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of reports/data to outside entities, including regulatory and tax agencies.

  • Participate in shared governance and represent Accounting/Finance through service on various committees, task forces, or process improvement teams.

  • Manage accounting software upgrades/improvements and integrations with other applications


A qualified candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • BS or BA in Accounting from an accredited college or university required. MBA is preferred, CPA highly desirable
  • 10 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with 3 to 5 years’ experience in the Non-Profit industry, preferably medical groups.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience managing an accounting staff.
  • Skilled in assessing and evaluating complex financial data, and creating meaningful information from the data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, establish and managed multiple priorities and coordinate work activities
