Controls Engineer:
We are currently hiring for a Controls Engineer in the Atlanta Area. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for Install, Troubleshooting, and Repair of Electrical Control Systems.This role involves 15-20% travel both domestic and foreign.

Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer:

  • Design electrical and control systems for CO2 equipment automation for various applications, nationally and internationally.
  • Work with written specifications and preliminary drawings/sketches to develop system schematics, control panel wiring and fabrication drawings in both 2D and 3D environments (AutoCAD, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical) within specified budgets.
  • Program, debug, and automate machinery using PLC and HMI interfaces (Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Siemens).
  • Specify, test and perform troubleshooting on the application of instrumentation such as pressure, temperature and pH transmitters and mass-flow instrumentation.
  • Perform analysis and specification of electrical power distribution, conductor sizing, motor starters, protective systems and motors.
  • Work directly with shop personnel during the fabrication phase of project equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting of control panel wiring and components during shop check-out, prior to the shipment of the equipment.
  • Travel for startup of new equipment and systems or for troubleshooting existing systems on existing customer IT network environment.
  • Configure Ethernet and HART communications protocols and PLC/HMI I/O testing.
  • Perform PID tuning of pH transmitters.   

Requirements of the Controls Engineer:

  • The individual must be an electrical engineering graduate {with course work in computer sciences, course work relating directly to programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), instrumentation selection and application, as well as basic electrical engineering courses}. 
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLC’s
  • Must be able to trouble-shoot control panel wiring and components during shop check-out, prior to the shipment of the equipment.
  • Required to travel for the startup of new equipment and systems or for trouble-shooting existing systems.
  • Familiar with the application of instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, and mass-flow instrumentation.

Plus:

  • A familiarity with NEC, UL, and CSA codes and requirements is a Plus
  • Experience with Ethernet communications protocol is a plus.
  • Familiarity with other digital communications such as Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and HART is desirable.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution, conductor sizing, motor starters, and protective systems is very desirable.
