Description

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for overseeing and leading all areas of Manufacturing to ensure the products produced are delivered on time and met with the high quality of standards we are known for throughout the industry.  The GM will lead and be a role model in Manufacturing through “Servant Leadership” and be committed to the growth of the employees’ success and development through open and honest communications, appropriate tools and training in an environment that fosters respect, builds trust and lives the company values.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the organization’s manufacturing processes, including Maintenance/Facilities, Production, Purchasing and Planning, Quality and Engineering.
  • Develop strategic working relationships across the organization to facilitate the accomplishment of corporate goals.
  • Formulates and recommends policies, programs and metrics to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Directs and coordinates various programs essential to the manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, security, cost reduction.)
  • Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., facility layout changes, selection and installation of capital equipment, major facility repairs.)
  • Works closely with the Quality team to ensure operations and employees are in compliance with all pertinent regulatory bodies including but not limited to: ITAR, QSR, MDD, CMDR and OSHA, FDA, ISO-13485
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitors scrap and rework data. 
  • Responsible for managing the P&L and ensuring the organization is delivering on expectations. 
  • Recommends, plans and budgets for all activities in support of achieving customer deliverable and company goals.
  • Develops and implements short and long term strategies consistent with organizational mission/vision/values.
  • Maintains appropriate communications with and between various functional areas within the company to optimize growth and profitability of the company.
  • Reviews organizational and staffing plans to ensure that they are consistent and appropriate in meeting production deliverables.
  • Identify, prioritize and manage resources required to successfully execute improvement projects across the company, and remove roadblocks to success
  • Build and facilitate improvement teams and ensure projects are executed on time with sustainable outcomes
  • Communicate team progress to key stakeholders
  • Educate, coach and mentor team members on Kaizen, DMAIC, and Lean philosophy
  • Maintain a high energy level and positive attitude to support continuous improvement processes from start to finish with a high level of autonomy
  • Have an active role with customer QBRs visits to ensure we are meeting customer expectations.
  • Act as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years experience in a manufacturing environment (contract manufacturing preferable).
  • Active participant in Kaizen, DMAIC, VSM, and TPI with demonstrated success efforts within Manufacturing.
  • Change agent and transformational leadership
  • Strong in organizational and time management
  • Highly values team collaboration and in leading cross functional teams successfully
  • Analytical and Problem Solver
  • Results oriented - follows through on commitments and deliverables
  • active participant in Kaizen, DMAIC, VSM, and TPI)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process
  • Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean/Flow throughput world
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Effective presentation skills
     

Education/Certification:

  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree (engineering is preferred)
