Maintenance Mechanic:

The Line Maintenance Mechanic performs routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery.  Then repairs basic mechanical components and replaces parts on the machine such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves gauges and switches.


Responsibilities of the Line Maintenance Mechanic: 

  • Know machine controls to install plate changeovers and start up machines for production needs when required
  • Observes and listens to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem
  •  Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  •  Examines form & texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  • Lubricates and cleans machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant
  • Document and track changeover times and record
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and 5S standards and observes the operations to insure a safe work environment

Requirements of the Line Maintenance Mechanic:

  • Able to use hand and pneumatic tools necessary for changeovers
  • Able to use hand and pneumatic tools necessary for equipment repairs
  • Ability to read and use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges
  • Limited to average understanding of systems and equipment
  • Limited understanding of schematics
  • Can work with OEM and troubleshoot problems with detailed understanding of all equipment and terminology
