Manufacturing Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate will be involved with:
  • Developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing process methods. "Hands on" involvement is necessary.
  • Utilizing company data acquisition sources to evaluate processes, making recommendations, and implementing improvements.
  • Planning and developing experimental test programs.
  • Conferring with engineering and other appropriate personnel to prepare design modifications.
  • Conferring with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production process improvements.
  • Evaluating and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
Other duties will include:
  • Coordinating activities concerned with technical developments including: scheduling, resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Conferring with appropriate personnel to help ensure efficient production methods are implemented on new products (pre-production launches).
  • Researching and analyzing data such as: customer design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility and costs.
  • Providing customers with requested / required information for design and approvals.
  • Evaluating and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Conferring with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment and materials.
  • Evaluating, testing and implementing alternate product according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Directing and coordinating fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Maintaining that safety protocols and environmental impacts are reviewed to meet any applicable standards.
  • Coordinating operation, maintenance and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.

GENERAL / TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design projects must be managed to specific phases or aspects such as: Input, Output, Verification and Validation.
  • Prepare and present interim and complete project reports to senior management and others as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess excellent computer skills including but not limited to: latest word processing and spreadsheet programs, Internet and email.
  • CAD experience is a plus.
  • Must be self- motivated and capable of scheduling each day's commitments.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing methods is beneficial.
  • Six Sigma, continuous improvement or other problem solving methodology is necessary for true solution implementation.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum BS in engineering curriculum or equivalent. Quantifiable rubber / plastic related processing experience may be used in lieu of college diploma.
  • Exposure and understanding of automotive and aerospace quality standards.
