We have an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Master Scheduler/ Shop Floor Planner in Bedford, MA! 


The Master Scheduler / Shop Floor Planner role will report to the Supply Chain Manager and is responsible for planning the manufacturing facility in a way that meets Customer Shipment requirements while meeting business objectives for: Sales, Finance, and Operations.  Through utilization of best planning practices and excellent communication, the Master Scheduler / Ship Floor Planner will translate Customer Orders and Sales Forecasts into achievable manufacturing schedules that insure on-time shipments, and level loading of the manufacturing facility.  

One of the primary roles of this position is to manage the Sales & Operations Planning process and to host the monthly S&OP meeting.  The Master Scheduler / Shop Floor Planner will be responsible for issuing, tracking, and maintaining manufacturing work orders, and maintaining a Master Production Schedule that supports the S&OP.  This role will develop and publish metrics for tracking manufacturing performance and revenue goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Acts as communication conduit between Manufacturing, Customer Service, Purchasing, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Shipping in determining resource constraints, and developing production plans that meet customer and business needs
  • Enters and maintains planning information in the ERP system based on sales forecasts and open customer orders
  • Maintains the Master Production Schedule for all manufacturing areas of the business, reviews and adjusts the MPS to account for changes in customer requirements, delays in raw material, availability of production equipment or labor, etc.
  • Works with Purchasing to ensure raw material supplies are scheduled to support the MPS
  • Publishes the MPS as a Manufacturing Plan
  • Responds to Customer Services requests to accommodate customer schedule changes relative to the Forecast
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors daily build schedules and report issues affecting targets with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, or others as needed
  • Maintains integrity of all data and planning parameters in order to maximize manufacturing efficiencies
  • Prepares and conduct the monthly Sales & Operations Planning meeting; perform all appropriate planning maintenance following the S&OP meeting
  • Manages production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of all customer orders
  • Takes the lead or assist in writing and updating Procedures and documenting processes to facilitate change management
  • Engages in process improvement projects with interconnecting departments to ensure positive, clear communication of build priorities
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with 10 years of related experience
  • High level of knowledge in material planning and manufacturing processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of supply/demand process and analysis
  • Aptitude to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, follow up, anticipate changes
  • Strong knowledge of MRP and ERP systems, preferably Fourth Shift
  • Ability to learn, understand, and use existing MS Access Databases
  • High-level MS Excel skills (comfortable with imports/exports, writing formulas - vlookup, pivot tables, multi-tab spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), proficiency with MS Office / preparing PowerPoint presentations
  • Ability to work well with others to help manage change in the organization
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high demand environment
  • Capable of solving practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
  • APICS certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply chain Professional (CSCP) a plus
  • Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus
  • Self-motivated, builds trust easily, and operates with integrity and ethics
