This company is looking for a Principal Computer Hardware Architect who is ready to make an immediate impact on the development of our industry leading technology. You will be challenged with coming up with elegant solutions to interesting problems, using your creativity and analysis.

  • Leverage expertise to help drive Waters’ computing technology roadmap to ensure that the Instrument Development organization is delivering cutting edge solutions for its customers.
  • Work closely across many engineering functions, including the core software, hardware and systems engineering groups, to design and develop platforms that will be used across Waters products.
  • Understand and decompose product requirements into system architecture
  • Development and documentation of new architectures and designs


  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in an electrical or computer engineering
  • 12+ years of experience in the design and architecture of computer systems in a networked environment
  • Complete understanding of the tradeoffs associated with building hardware and software in a distributed or loosely coupled system
  • Experience working with the unique requirements around obsolescence proof hardware selections and cost sensitivity
  • Experience with one or more of the following microprocessor architectures: ARM, Nios, x86
  • Experience with understanding network architectures at layer 2 and layer 3
  • Strong understanding of software from the low-level embedded layer to the middleware mission critical system layer up the application layer
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including specification writing, giving presentations and technical evangelizing
