Principle Engineer or Sr Development Engineer
Responsible for leading and contributing directly to full design, development, testing and integration of modules, assemblies, and components for advanced precision capital equipment.
Must Haves:
- BSME or Advanced Degree ( min. 15+ years experience)
- Completing full design, development, test of system modules and integration including complex mechanical assemblies and sub assemblies, optical instrumentation and precision motion.
- Advanced CAD Software (ie. Inventor, Solidworks, Creo, NX )
- FEA Software (ie. Simulation, Cosmos, Ansys, Mechanica) for thermal, fluid and materials analysis.
Preferred :
- Strong Capital Equipment Backgrounds include Semiconductor, Photolithography/Lithography, Metrology, Wafer Inspection, Mass Spectrometry or Chromatography
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for component, module or subsystem design from concept design through manufacturing transfer and ramp
- Performs detailed design and component layout including, BOM, drawings, and procedures for new or improved subsystems and validates concepts through prototype builds and analysis
- Lead and contribute to the concept, design, development, and test of system modules and integration, including electro-mechanical and optical-mechanical instrumentation
- Identify/specify parts, components, and assemblies
- Work with key suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of critical components
- Use FEA Tools to provide thermal analysis, fluid flow patterns, heat transfer, resonant frequencies, deflections, and internal stresses
- Regular reviews project updates and reviews
- Operate within a cross functional team, understand the needs and requirements of internal stakeholders as well as external customers
- Prepare and chair design reviews
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with, leading and directing a collaborative, cross-functional team development effort
- Experience and ability to problem solve and produce engineering solutions to problems of varying degrees of complexity
- Experience and Strong ability to use CAD tools (Inventor, Solidworks, Creo )
- Experience using FEA Tools for analysis of thermal heat flow, fluid flow, material properties, and structural stresses
- Experience working with and selecting linear motors and related supporting components
- Experience working with and managing suppliers of critical parts and components
Helpful Experience:
An understanding of magnetic field interactions with solids and the potential for material heating and induced forces
Working knowledge of precision motion of heavy components, loads, bearings, low-friction interfaces
Knowledge of tribology is a plus
Familiarity with optical alignment methods and tools, hands-on experience a plus
