Description

Mechanical Engineer - Research & Development

As a mechanical engineer on the team, you will be tasked with both physically setting up test hardware and experimental test stands as well as analyzing data collected and making engineering determinations.  This includes everything from fluid component testing, hydraulic pump performance and high-speed actuator testing. We are looking for an engineer who will understand many aspects of our systems and contribute in several key areas. 

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and conducting performance testing of hydraulic & mechanical components and systems

  • Light assembly of test apparatuses and test fixtures

  • Design of simple test apparatuses and test fixtures

  • Data collection and data analysis

  • Documenting test methods and test results

  • Improving current test methods and developing new tests

  • Maintain understanding of ClearMotion systems

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related with 5+ years experience in the automotive field preferred. Will look at other industries as they relate.

  • Industry experience in development, design, or test engineering preferred

  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink

  • Experience with CAD/Solidworks preferred

  • Comfortable with developing and implementing testing methods and procedures

  • Proficient with engineering concepts in hydraulics and fluid flow

Must Haves to be Effective

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills
