The Davis Companies is searching for a high level Senior Manufacturing Engineer for one of our local aerospace and defense clients in the north Minneapolis area.  The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating, documenting, and implementing machining and manufacturing processes for 5-Axis CNC contour and complex surfacing programs

Responsibilities of Senior Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Develops 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC programs for machining.

  • Lead customer focused projects and continuous improvement projects using sound project management principles and methodologies.

  • Develops work instructions and standardized work for manufacturing processes. 

  • Utilize Lean and Six-Sigma principles to improve manufacturing quality and productivity in machining, fabrication, special processes, and assembly.

  • Champions sound engineering disciplines throughout process development and component lifecycles to included, but not limited to: FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE, Process Validation, Process Characterization, SPC studies, etc

Requirements of Senior Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent degree with 10 plus years of relevant experience within a machined component manufacturing organization.  Or, a relevant technical degree / diploma and at least 15 years of experience in a process or manufacturing engineering role within a machined component manufacturing organization.
  • Ability to create CNC machining/programs, specifically 5-Axis contour and complex surfacing machining.  Knowledge of cutting tools, fixture design, and coolant requirements.
  • High level knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Solidworks, Catia, hyperMILL, Vericut) and PDM Software.
  • Experience working in the Aerospace, Medical or other highly regulated industry.
  • ISO13485, ISO9001, AS9100 and NADCAP experience.
  • Knowledge of ERP software (JobBoss, Epicor),
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is highly desirable.
  • SME Certified Manufacturing Engineer or Technologist is highly desirable
