Field Machinist

Our client is a major global provider of welding equipment and welding services. They are seeking a skilled machinist who is comfortable with extensive domestic and some international travel to join their team. This field machining technician shall exhibit a high level of knowledge, dedication and work ethic required operate and repair a wide variety of conventional and portable machine tools.

This is a direct hire opportunity and pays $20-24 for in house time and $25-29 for field time. Tons of overtime available and lots of compensation incentives. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of various conventional and portable machine tools. 

• Study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed and then plan best sequence of operations,

• Set up and operate metal cutting machine tools & equipment. 

• The operation of manual lathes, mills, band saws and various portable machine tools. 

• Position work pieces into machines 
• Use many types of cutting tools
• Use many types of measurement tools to machine various size components
• Support all field jobs and capital (R&D) projects 

• Working knowledge of gauge and inspection tools to verify that all the customer specifications have been met. 

• Learn and work independently, exhibit common sense and good judgment, and foster a safe working environment 
• Self-starter, exercises good judgment, is proactive, and demonstrates timely follow-through.
• Practiced organizational skills; adherence to timelines and schedules; and attention to detail.
• Professional and effective skills of written and verbal communication and concisely document all work and repairs completed in the field
• Willingness and ability to manage through collaboration; embrace accountability; share responsibility; and develop employees for personal and professional growth. 
• Be exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions (extreme heat and cold). 

Able to operate portable machining tools in the field. Most work done at refineries. Nuclear sites, power houses etc. 

In house training and on the job training will be available.
