Fast-growing medical device company in the northern Twin Cities metro has an immediate opening on their team for a SolidWorks Designer. This contract-to-hire opportunity allows you to work with to professionals in the field. 

Responsibilities of the SolidWorks Designer:
• Create 3D models, assemblies, and drawings based on concepts or mark-ups provided by engineering or project management staff.
• Participates in facilitated training designed to increase knowledge of issues related to medical device design, development and manufacturing, such as GMP, etc.
• Other duties may include CAD database maintenance, PDM, material database, drawing formats, etc.
• Revise drawings based on markups or redlines to support change order requests.
• Works with appropriate departments to design and document fixtures as needed for inspection, testing and manufacturing purposes.
• Provide design and documentation support for ongoing R&D projects as needed.
• Generates new concepts from product specifications in collaboration with engineering staff.

Qualifications of the SolidWorks Designer:
• Familiarity with GD&T Dimensioning, its methods and application.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and practices.
• 5 years using SolidWorks in a manufacturing or technical field.
• Associate’s degree or two-year vocational/technical diploma in Mechanical Design or Design/Drafting Technology fields.
• Less than University Degree (Associate degree) or technical equivalent required.
• Familiarity with the ASME Y14.5 standard for dimensioning and tolerancing.
