A fast-growing biomedical company in the southern Twin Cities metro has an immediate opening on their team for a contract-to-hire Development Scientist II. The Development Scientist II will be responsible for completing assignments requiring independent thought, judgment, and initiative. Individual should require a limited degree of supervision for routine work and general instructions with guidance on new assignments. Individual should be able to assist in developing new techniques and procedures that lead to greater departmental efficiency. All work must also meet regulatory requirements and follow company policies and procedures. Willingness to work in an ISO9000/FDA regulated environment is required.

Specific responsibilities include participating in development and commercialization of immunoassays for an automated system. Independently analyze simple to moderately complex experimental data as well as provide and present conclusions. Participate in verification and validation of new and modified product designs. Responsible for documentation of studies performed including materials, methods, and conclusions.

Candidates must have training in life sciences (e.g. chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or medical related sciences), laboratory medicine, or other related clinical chemistry experience. Successful candidates will have:

Requirements of the Development Scientist: 

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of laboratory experience, or Master’s degree with 0-2 years of experience.

• Knowledge of good laboratory practices and scientific methods.

• Experience working within cross-functional teams.

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting.

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels and across different cultures.

• Organizational capabilities and attention to detail.

• Ability to work in a fast pace environment and maintain timelines for multiple projects.

• Working knowledge of statistical methods and design of experiments would be an advantage.
