A well-known manufacturing company just north of the northern Minneapolis/St. Paul suburbs has an immediate opening on their team for a Materials Engineer. This contract to hire opportunity allows you to be part of a world-class team of individuals.

This role is based in the Materials Engineering and Testing department. This department is a Central Operations Team and services the materials testing, validation and analysis needs of all Polaris product powersports platforms including but not limited to off-road vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and military. The department uses a wide range of testing equipment and conducts tests on a broad range of materials.  This is a hands-on position where the successful applicant will be required to prioritize tasks and complete testing in an efficient and organized manner. 



  • Mechanical testing – tensile and fatigue
  • Failure analysis and fractography
  • Optical microscopy and digital imaging
  • Scanning electron microscopy investigation
  • X-ray and CT analysis




  • Minimum 2 or 4 year Technical Degree with 1 year experience, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of formal education
  • Experience in tensile testing, scanning electron microscopy or X-ray equipment operation desired
  • Experience in use of microscopes, and hardness testing equipment
  • Experience with failure analysis and fractography of metal and/or plastic samples
