Position Summary

The Plant/Industrial Electrician reports to the Manager, Maintenance and is responsible for maintaining and/or repairing 480 volt/3-phase energized equipment in a commercial food processing plant. While operating on the plant floor, the Electrician is expected to perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, as well as troubleshoot electrical problems. The electrician will be responsible for electrical wiring of new equipment and electrical planning for upgrade projects.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains electrical conduit systems, feeders, branch circuits, panel boards, transformers, disconnects, variable frequency drives, VFD, PLC and other related electrical equipment and systems
  • Performs control system diagnostics
  • PLC Installation
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Maintaining an adequate amount of material to ensure continuous work flow
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and electrical systems
  • Be a key contributor in all improvement projects
  • Maintains and orderly and clean work area
  • Effectively communicates with Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to prioritize electrical needs
  • Assures that the highest standards are maintained for safety and compliance with all regulatory and company standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned 


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of industrial electrical experience
  • Three (3) years of experience working with 480 volt/3-phase energized equipment
  • One (1) year food processing plant experience
  • One (1) year maintenance experience
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work, develop and maintain ongoing relationships with different levels within the organization
  • Overtime required
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • One (1) year Supervisory experience
  • PLC Programming a plus
