Description

Capable and motivated Engineering Manager needed for an established and industry-leading aerospace manufacturing company in the Fort Scott, Kansas area! This is a direct placement position with extensive room for growth and a strong career path. 15-18 direct reports handling equipment and facility maintenance with strong attention to safety and optimization. Green/Black Belt candidates would be a big bonus! Experience in operations management, project management, or industrial engineering within manufacturing environments would all be valued. Responsible for surveying equipment, plant, and manufacturing processes to continuously improve efficiencies, product quality, and productivity of all equipment and processes. Also retain the value of the equipment and facility while increasing equipment utilization and life. Manage the engineering and maintenance functions in the facility to attain these objectives. Responsible for supporting strategic direction and leadership for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of industry leading environmental, health and safety programs at the facility, and to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local and company rules and regulations. This position requires a person capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization, and be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manage & provide the necessary engineering required for the sustained operation of the plant, including services and manufacturing equipment

• Staff and supervise the engineering and maintenance departments within the company’s guidelines

• Prepare the capital budget and effectively manage projects including establishing detailed and defined scopes, detailed cost estimates, timelines with milestones, and deliverables

• Provide engineering review of plant projects

• Administer safety and environmental programs

• Recommend and assist with programs and changes that promote the company’s philosophy for a safe workplace

• Provide training and development to maintenance employees to insure proper operation of assets which will promote safe working conditions, increased efficiency, and quality products.

• Data collection, analysis, gauge R&Rs, and quality control

• Track and maintain safety, environmental, and maintenance metrics

• Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools where applicable, such as process improvements and scrap reduction.

• Provide a leadership role in applying new technologies to the manufacturing process

• Arrange for outside contractors to carry out specific project assignments to meet schedules without excessive costs
