2. All work done in a Cleanroom
3. Must be able to read and write in English
4. Very tiny components. Some soldering

 SCOPE OF THE JOB:                                                                       

The role involves practical hands experience with manufacturing photonic devices. Specifically the assembly and test processes for optical and microelectronic devices.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow written, controlled work instructions and drawings
  • Operate assembly and test equipment used in the manufacture of fiber optic modules
  • Assembly tasks include operating computers, solder reflow ovens, attaching components and subassemblies with solder(s) or adhesive(s), wire-bonding
  • Fiber subassembly tasks include but are not limited to the cleaning of plated and non-plated tubes, cutting, sizing and straightening of buffer material, soldering tubes to the fiber, attaching and curing buffer tube assemblies as well as cleaning and inspecting completed subassemblies prior to high magnification inspection
  • Environmental area tasks include cup welding, lid seal, temperature cycling, fine and gross leak testing and boot attach
  • Testing of a wide array of products
  • Adhere to and follow all ESD protocols when handling product
  • Follow clean room gowning procedure
  • Maintain lot traceability and identification of all components consumed
  • Transact product on lot travelers, either electronically or on paper in a timely fashion
  • Clearly identify all non-conforming material
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

SPECIALIST FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Hands-on experience with photonics manufacturing processes
  • Perform ultra-fine accuracy alignment using micro-positioners and hand tools
  • Work with tweezers and fine tools for small part handling
  • Handle optical fiber with wrapping and unwrapping, cleaving and stripping.

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination and good dexterity
  • Ability to work through a microscope for extended periods of time
  • Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for their outcomes
  • Prior experience with computer programs (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and 6S techniques

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with MS Office computer applications (Excel, Word)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 6S techniques
  • Ability to read, speak, and write clearly in English to a US high school level
  • High school diploma

· US Citizen or Green Card Holder required

EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in electronics assembly or fiber optic assembly in a clean room
    • Experience using computerized equipment helpful
